Overdraft Program

Beach Municipal FCU Offers Overdraft Protection

We realize that the unexpected sometimes happens, or perhaps you miscalculated your balance. That's why we offer two overdraft protection options to protect yourself from the embarrassment and inconvenience of accidentally overdrawing your Checking Account.

Savings Account Transfers

  • All members with a Checking Account have overdraft protection coverage from their Savings Account.
  • If an item is presented for payment and there isn't enough money in your Checking Account to cover the transaction, we'll automatically transfer the money from your Savings to Checking, up to the available balance.
  • This service is set up automatically at account opening, so there's nothing you need to do.
  • Best of all...no transfer fees! The money in your Savings Account is your money, so we never charge a fee to transfer it to your Checking Account.

Overdraft Line of Credit

An Overdraft Line of Credit is a loan that can be used to cover your checking account balance if you spend more money than you have.It can be a more affordable option than overdraft fees, which can add up quickly.

What's the difference between available balance and account balance?

Your account balance is the total amount of money you have in your account, including any transactions that have not yet been processed (such as debit card purchases).

The available balance is the amount of money you have in your account that can be used for purchases and withdrawals. The total excludes pending transactions and check holds but does not take into account any checks that have not yet been cashed or deposits that have not yet been processed.

It is important to use the available balance, rather than the account balance, to determine how much money you have available. This is because the available balance takes into account pending transactions, such as checks that have not yet cleared, so you will not overdraw your account.
