Be Vigilant and Avoid Fraud!

The Credit Union is often made aware of a various scams and fraudulent activity. You can help stop these thieves and protect your identity by being aware of their tactics.

ACH Payment Emails ~ We continue to receive national reports that individuals and credit unions have been receiving fraudulent e-mail that appears to be sent from NACHA, a clearing house for automatic payments. The subject line of the e-mail may state something such as one of the following: "ACH Transfer Rejected," "ACH Transcation Cancelled," "Your ACH Transaction," or "ACH Payment Rejected."  The emails include links which are not leading back to NACHA. They are instead leading you to sites that are either phishing for your personal information, downloading malware to your PC, or both.

Wire Transfer Fraud ~ We have been made aware of an email scam designed to look as if a wire transfer originated by you has failed.  The email asks you to "click here to view details."  Please do not click on the link.  Doing so my expose your account to fraud and theft.

Secret Shopper Scam ~ Fradulent checks with Denver Community Credit Union's name have been showing up at various financial institutions.  These checks are accompanied by letters from Global Secret Shopper in which the members are being paid up front for completing certain tasks, one of which is to wire the company money via Western Union.  Because the original check will bounce, the victims are wiring their own money to the company, which, of course, does not exist.

"Your" Financial Institution Scams ~ Beach Municipal FCU will NEVER send you an unsolicited communication requesting that you confirm, update or validate your account information. If you receive any correspondence asking for your confidential information, please consider the communication a fraudulent attempt to obtain your personal account data for an illegal purpose and do not follow any instructions.
