Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union was founded in 1970 by ten City of Virginia Beach employees who shared a simple goal: to create a safe, trustworthy place for people to save and borrow money.
At the time, financial options that truly understood the needs of municipal employees were limited. Those ten founders believed their coworkers deserved a financial partner rooted in fairness, accessibility, and mutual support. From that belief, Beach Municipal FCU was born.
Growing with Purpose
What began as a small, employee-led credit union has grown into a full-service financial institution serving generations of municipal and public school employees and their families.
Over the years, Beach Municipal FCU has expanded its products, services, and technology to meet the evolving needs of its members. While our assets and membership have grown, our purpose has remained unchanged: to serve members with integrity, respect, and personalized care.
Growth has never been about becoming bigger for its own sake — it has always been about becoming better for our members.

Our members serve the Virginia Beach community every day as law enforcement officers, public works professionals, educators, waste management operators, and in many other essential roles. We understand their work, their challenges, and their commitment to public service — because this credit union was built by them and for them.
