Beach Municipal FCU Turns Skip-A-Payment Program into Community Support Through Foodbank Donation
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – September 2026 – Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union (BMFCU) is proud to support the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore through a charitable donation made possible by member participation in the Credit Union's seasonal Skip-A-Payment program.
During December 2025 and January 2026, eligible BMFCU members had the opportunity to skip a qualifying loan payment for one of the two months, providing a little extra financial flexibility during the holiday season. A nominal fee was collected for each Skip-A-Payment request, with the proceeds directed into a charitable fund established by the Credit Union.
Following the promotional period, Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union donated the funds collected to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, helping support its mission of providing food assistance and resources to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity throughout the region.
"What makes this program especially meaningful is that it brings together two important parts of who we are as a Credit Union: helping our members and supporting the communities we serve," said Geri Metzger, CEO of Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union. "Our members were able to take advantage of a little extra breathing room in their monthly budgets, while their participation also helped us give back to families in need. We're grateful to our members for making this community contribution possible."
The donation reflects Beach Municipal's ongoing commitment to supporting local organizations that make a difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout Hampton Roads. Through member-focused programs, charitable giving, volunteerism, and community partnerships, the Credit Union continues to embrace the cooperative philosophy of "People Helping People."
