Duties:

JOB SUMMARY

The Member Service Representative/Teller II plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our members. This position involves accurately processing all types of member transactions, recommending suitable Credit Union products and services to address financial needs, and resolving issues related to member accounts. This position reports to the Branch Manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Teller Line

  • Processes all transactions for members and guest members, including deposits, withdrawals, check negotiation, transfers, payments, cash advances, cashier’s checks, gift cards sales and other teller functions with accuracy and in accordance with our policy and procedure guidelines.
  • Has proficient knowledge of check hold policies with the ability to make check hold decisions, within their authority.
  • Ensures the operational integrity of the personal cash drawer, TCR, and teller vault by securely managing cash and other negotiable instruments, while strictly following all balancing and auditing policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a frontline defense against fraud and theft, safeguarding both members and the Credit Union.
  • Delivers prompt, courteous, and professional service. This includes welcoming all members and visitors to the branch, assessing their needs, and providing appropriate assistance.
  • Actively listens to members and offers appropriate products and services to enhance their financial well-being, aiming to increase cross sales and referrals.
  • Provides information to current, new, and potential members concerning membership eligibility, account types, loan products, services, and member benefits. 
  • Escalates issues that exceed their authority to their supervisor, providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Answers incoming calls in a professional, timely, and courteous manner, and provides appropriate assistance.


Compliance and Administration

  • Completes all required paperwork and data input accurately, in compliance with Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Understands the Credit Union’s financial goals and strategic direction.
  • Stays updated on Credit Union products, services, and compliance regulations, ensuring adherence to established standards and guidelines.
  • Understands all security and responsibilities of the departments within the Credit Union.
  • Supports the day-to-day operations and efficiencies of the branch.

 
Performance and Training

  • Consistently meets or exceeds performance goals as established by management. 
  • Meets all internal training requirements for this position, annually.
     

Additional Functions

  • Attend meetings, training courses, and seminars.
  • Perform clerical support duties as necessary.
  • Assist in other departments as necessary.
  • Performs other functions as required.

Requirements:

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in handling money with a proven accuracy record.
  • Minimum of one year member/customer relations experience, Credit Union or financial institution preferred.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional member service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated with a strong initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Must have basic keyboarding and data entry skills including a working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Dependable and detail-oriented.
